To Expedite Roof Repairs

Roofing problems such as leaks from weather damage, aging shingles, or structural issues may require solar panel removal for roof repair. Storm damage can also necessitate immediate repairs, and solar panels may need to be removed to facilitate these repairs.

Access to the roof surface is often required to properly repair a roof, making solar panel removal necessary. Removing the panels allows for thorough inspection and repair of the entire roof, preventing incomplete repairs and potential further damage.

Typical Steps for Solar Panel Removal

First Assessment

Before removing solar panels for roof repair, professional assessment is required. This evaluation checks the condition of the solar panels and all related hardware and considers warranty implications. It ensures the removal process is properly planned, minimizing damage risks and taking necessary precautions.

Disconnecting the Solar System

First, C&L Solar disconnects the solar system from the electrical grid and isolates the circuit to ensure safety. A licensed electrician should always handle this disconnection, following safety guidelines to prevent accidents.

Panel Removal

After disconnecting the solar system, we carefully remove the panels from the roof using experienced care in handling in order to avoid damage. Special attention may be needed for microinverters and mounting hardware. Years of installations ensure we know best the methods to quickly and efficiently remove everything without damage.

Temporarily Store Hardware

We store solar panels in a safe, dry place identified in the first assessment during roof repairs. Proper storage is essential to avoid damage from weather or physical impacts.

Typical Steps for Solar Panel Replacement

Reinstall Solar Hardware

Similar to the original installation process, we return the mounting hardware, wiring and solar panels to their original locations in sequence. When required, adding new fasteners and drilling through new roofing materials may occur. This may be a good time to upgrade to protect against animal destruction, too.

Reconnect the Solar Energy System

As much as possible, original wiring and connectors are used to reconnect the power components. Sometimes weathering and animals may degrade the utility of the existing wiring. We will always advise you if replacements are recommending during the first assessment and removal steps.

Inspection and Testing

C&L Solar will reconnect your solar energy system to your home and to the grid while testing to make sure the system is working as originally designed. An overall physical inspection will ensure there are no surprises down the road. We provide a written report which can be used if needed during any warranty claims, proving the hardware was removed and reinstalled following best in practice guidelines.
